Poetry Challenge, day 2

Challenge : Write an outsiders poem.

From Aloft

In the sky,
Soaring high
Crisp and cold
The wind and rain
Holds up my wings
It is my home.

But below
Trees are gone
Metal, rock
All is fast, hard
What is this gray?
Why am I now sad?

Tall and huge
Square and cold.
I soar around it,
Unnatural, hard
These structures.
There is no green.

A scent aloft,
Sickens me.
Like strange smoke
Billows and fills.
This is not right
Its not a home.

I am shocked!
Creatures there!
They walk, eat!
Their young eat too!
This is not right,
Life cannot live there.

Poetry Challenge, DAY 1

Challenge: Write an Origin Poem

My submission:

Giant Sequoia Tree

From a distant past
I burst through the mossy soil
From the life-giving roots of my parents
I began my unmoving journey overcoming many a toil.

The shadows above
Of all the huge ancients stood
Would I grow? Would I survive? Would I last?
As the months, the years the centuries pass, I realize I could.

Fires came and went
The Earth would shudder and shake
But still I endured, the deep water sustained
And even the wonder of saplings from my own roots would take

Creatures from below
Would gaze in awe up at me
Names they have given, words of me they say,
Wawona, Toos-pung-ish, Hercules, but now Giant Sequoia Tree.

April's Poetry Challenge

For those who like poetry, or for those (like myself) want to try their hand at it, I have found a fun poetry contest. At this website http://blog.writersdigest.com/poeticasides/ you will find information for this daily challenge that will be running for the entire month of April. This contest also ran with great sucess last year as well.

The Poetic Asides website is branched from Writers Digest, and is filled with wonderful information! I stumbled upon this particular page only a few days ago, and I now want to pass it on to you.

I am going to be attempting to make a few poems for this too, and as I do, I will post a few here.

Good luck, and Good Writing!

The reason why...

Creative Inspiration... It is pivotal key for all those who write, or at least aspire to write. Sometimes, Finding that drop of inspiration is quite an event! This unfortunate fact is something that I am discovering is almost as hard, if not harder, then writing itself! Getting initial inspiration, feeding it, keeping it growing and fueling it as it stalls... It is an art form into itself, don't you think?

So, hence the reasoning behind why I have made this blog. As I find those rare gems of creative inspiration whether a chip or a mountain, I will pass them on to you. That way, we can all reap the beautiful rewards of genuine CREATIVE INSPIRATION!

I wish you all good writing on the road to your creativity!
